Demos had been commissioned to build a tax calculator that would enable members of the public to put themselves in the shoes of the Chancellor and choose to change the tax system, see how much difference their changes would make, and see who would end up paying more or less.
Cross-party think tank
Demos is a cross party think tank based in the United Kingdom. It specialises in social policy, developing evidence-based solutions in a range of areas. Demos were looking for a software development company to build a tax calculator for the People’s Budget. It was to be the most comprehensive UK study to date of public attitudes towards tax rise.
The Build
The project was not only extremely time-sensitive but also relatively complex as our Bubble developers were collaborating with an economist who was compiling the data sets. The fact that the data sets were being developed in parallel with the app meant that Di9ital were unaware of what the data format would be during the first stage of development.
The Tax Calculator was delivered on time and successfully gave people the opportunity to have a go at being Chancellor of the Exchequer and have their recommendations sent to Demos and published (if they so wished). The People’s Budget can be viewed here.
The Build
